Do we have any sort of estimate on when Lucifer got caged? Because I'm thinking of the belief held by several flavors of Christianity that the devil will be imprisoned for a thousand years, then released long enough to be destroyed, but I can't think of anything that happened just about a thousand years ago that would correspond to Michael (and Raphael? and Gabriel, depending on when he left? why wasn't Raphael at Stull Cemetery, anyway?) catching Lucifer and shoving him in the cage. Of course it's possible—hell, it's probable—that Supernaturalverse history differs from realverse history, but.

The only vaguely apocalyptic thing I can think of around that time is 1066, with the Norman invasion of England, etc. But that's not exactly the end of the world, and the timeline's off by 50 years.

I could have sworn that I had seen somewhere (I cannot remember where now) that SPN is working on a slightly different version of history.

Yeah, but we don't have any indication of how it differs, and in a bunch of crucial ways it has to have been basically the same in order to produce a world that looks basically the same as ours.
