Me ten minutes ago: The nausea went away! The nausea has been gone for hours! [I took yesterday off due to nausea.] I can have potato soup with cheese and ranch!

Me now: ...the nausea never went away did it.

Possibly the potato soup/cheese/ranch combination was not the best one.

(I dunno what your general experience with nausea is; if it's frequent and you've got your own methods, ignore me. If not, from someone who has spent large chunks of her adult life nauseated, I find the best test-foods for "am I actually done being nauseated?" are fresh-fruits and light bread products.)

Yeah. Possibly. Usually when it's gone it's gone, though. And I can eat bananas and bread and rice and noodles and chicken broth (usually rice or noodles cooked in chicken broth) while nauseated, so my usual test for 'is it actually gone' is anything else that looks good. Which the potato soup did.

Mom thinks it's flu, which if so, I had a flu shot, this isn't fair. Though given that we're expecting an inch or more of snow by midnight and there won't be anybody out plowing till morning, she'd really rather I call in sick anyway, because if I don't I'll get off at midnight and I can't remember ever driving in accumulated snow before.

Unless you're also hacking and coughing and have a fever+lethargy+general misery of the intense kind, it's not the flu. (Influenza is a respiratory disease which only coincidentally and sometimes comes with nausea. /possibly unnecessary explanation) If you're functional - ie not chained to the bathroom throwing up constantly - it's probably just a minor gastro-intestinal thing of various descriptions, the stomach version of a cold; the biggies like norovirus/etc tend to be pretty virulent.

Dunno about fever, hadn't thought to check, shall go do now, but definitely coughing. Also yes to the lethargy and general misery though intensity is debatable.

If you do have a fever, DEF. call in - when you have a fever with a viral-anything (cold, flu, whatever) you're contagious and you'll be doing your coworkers a favour not to come in and shed virii all over the place for them to catch.

(Also, I am sorry you're miserable. :()

Little bitty fever. 97.9 F when my baseline's nearer 97.5. Yay more time off work and not much to do with it other than sit and grouch.

Have you tried Elementary yet? I think you might like it. (Joan Watson is fantastic, and the "disgraced surgeon" thing they sort of billed is entirely oversold and not really what is actually in the show.)

Or if you have netflix, they have the Big Cat Diaries and sometimes it's nice just to watch African big cats chase things and groom their cubs.

Otherwise, meh. Sorry. :( *gives tea*

I have ahemed all the episodes thus far. I just haven't watched them, and I don't know why because it is highly recommended. And it seems like a thing that requires intellectual engagement, which...not really in the cards today.

No Netflix, sadly.

Oo tea. :)

I get nauseous for no apparent reason pretty often, and I've found that crackers/ apples/ plain cereal are the best to start with after a bout. It's like my stomach needs to be primed. Also, during those times, stuff high in fiber is good, dairy products are bad except for yogurt.

Also, a little bit of a fever + nausea and coughing sounds like you might have a sinus infection or bronchitis.
