Went to the movie theater. Saw Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Brave.

ALL THE FEELS.

Most of the feels do not go into words, but I am buying all three movies at my earliest opportunity. I actually lost count of how often Brave passed Bechdel. Also Natasha Romanov STOLE THE FUCKING SHOW and anyone who tells you otherwise was not watching the same movie I saw. Also Natasha/Maria plz?

Quoth the Roger Ebert review: "Brave" seems at a loss to deal with [Merida] as a girl and makes her a sort of honorary boy. UH NO. NO SHE IS NOT. GIRLS CAN DO ARCHERY AND BE OUTDOORSY AND BE BADASS TOO. AND HAVE FUN FINDING A BOY WHO CAN SEW. Okay that last isn't quite fair, but it's fair enough considering the setting.

Not looking at the brave discussion (I'll probably catch that next week), but it sounds like a delightful movie day. :D

Snow was LOCKED UP FOR TEN YEARS HOW DOES SHE KNOW ANYTHING.

Whoever said Ravenna's self-image depends on Ravenna being the victim? Even though Ravenna is a sorcerer of terrifying power? TOTALLY RIGHT.

Seriously could have lived without the explicit statement that this is a Christian nation.

Might have been nice to have forewarning that the sapient inhabitants of this country are not universally human. Also, female dwarves, why are there not any?

*wrinkles nose* I was hoping the Christian thing was a (heavily) ~implied~ bit, rather than explicit. I remember reading about that somewhere. *sadface*

(Otherwise, I am still super excited to get to watch this movie.)

Nope. Snow says an Our Father. That's as explicit as it's possible to get.

Natasha is excellent at stealing the show. Even in movies when she's not the title character. (She totally saved the day in Iron Man II while the men were busily reacting....)

She needs her own movie. I'm debating whether or not to see Brave, I take it you're in the "get to the theater, Tigs!" category? :)

(Not reading the spoilers. :)

Natasha completely stole the show. She was just awesome and I want her to get her own movie now.

Wow that is one hell of a Saturday.

Natasha is the bestest! She kicks all the asses there are! On the Romanov/Hill I will think. No reason not to ship, I guess, but I never have before. Actually, I guess I don't generally ship Black Widow in The Avengers, although there were some lovely fics involving Clint and Steve... In Iron Man II I ship her with Pepper...
